Vacationed In Galveston, TX

July 3, 2008 – 11:00 am

I haven’t been active much with the blog lately for a number of reasons. First, I’ve been dedicating myself to upgrading my Wordpress template. At first, I was going to use the business budget to purchase a new template, but I ultimately decided to sit down, learn PHP, and build my own template. I have a great design laid out, now I just have to implement that design into PHP.

Secondly, I have been working on technicalities of my podcast recording. I want to assure that I do not run into any errors when doing my interviews. Reason for this is because one of my past interviews, I ran into numerous problems which affected going through with another interview and possibly losing that person as an interviewee. I finally diagnosed and fixed the problem to where I can perform interview with great quality results.

Lastly, I was planning a vacation which took place on the June 19th weekend. My family and I took a 45 minute drive to Galveston and had an absolutely wonderful time. We visited yet another waterpark called Schlitterbahn, we visited Moody Garden, played on the beach, and stayed in a lovely hotel. Here are a few pictures of our vacation:

We had a budget laid out for the vacation and unfortunately we went over the budget due to hotel reservations (which was out of our control, I’ll speak on this in another post) and souvenir purchases (which was in our control, but wasn’t planned properly, I’ll speak on this in another post, as well). Though we went over the budget, everyone had an absolute blast. Believe me when I tell you, the smile on my face, I haven’t had in years. I can’t even tell you when was the last time I had a REAL out-of-town vacation.

Over-budgeting did bring about some cons to our management. First, I didn’t get to accomplish a few of my June goals. Also, the car used to travel now has serious brake damage. This has led me to provide to you with a small series of “Vacation Experience” posts. In this small series, I will go over the mistakes and problems we encountered on our vacation so the next time I take a vacation, I’ll know cost-effective ways to still have a great time. Also, you and the readers can definitely benefit from this as well as you plan your own vacation.
