I also work in the industry. A large part of why we have oil/fuel/energy shortages is 30 years of refusal to allow us to exploit known reserves and alternate hydrocarbon sources in NAM, coupled with a impossible requirements placed on building additional refinaries, nuclear plants, etc.

Government over-regulation is the problem. BTW: the program that got us out of the great depression was WWII, not what FDR put in place.

good thoughts, it spurred some thinking for me on how the media, congress, etc. generally blame everyone but the US public and their insatiable consumption patterns for the high price of oil.

OPEC cheats on output and they're still seeing record prices. These guys couldn't be happier, but it's the demand side that's killing us on price. Can't blame them for exploiting our weakness.

Great post. I have to agree, the Fed monetary policy is root cause of inflation around the world and unless they change it soon - we are going to see double-digit inflation within the next few years.

Wow, you said some very strong things, alot of which I do agree with you.

We are all in a real bad situation right now in the USA, but the real question is how do we solve the problem. I guess people who have money now to invest, are the biggest beneficiaries.
